What are features?

Features are the options you are evaluating — the things you might build, invest in, or prioritize. In Weivo, features are scored against needs to determine which create the most value for your stakeholders. “Features” is a flexible concept. A feature might be a product capability, a program initiative, a budget line item, or any other decision option that can be evaluated against a set of needs.

Adding features

  1. Go to the Features tab in your project
  2. Click Add feature
  3. Enter a name and, optionally, a description
  4. Save the feature
You can also import features in bulk using the XLSX import tool (Pro plan). This is useful if you have an existing backlog or feature list in a spreadsheet.

Scoring features against needs

In weighted and allocation mode, each feature is scored against each need on a 0 to 10 scale. A higher score means the feature does more to address that need. To score a feature:
  1. Open the feature’s detail view
  2. For each need, set a score from 0 to 10
  3. A score of 0 means the feature does not address the need at all; 10 means it addresses it completely
You do not have to score every feature against every need. Unscored combinations default to 0.

Must-haves

In direct mode, you can mark a feature as a must-have. Must-haves always appear at the top of the ranked list, regardless of their score. Use this for non-negotiable items (regulatory requirements, dependencies, committed deliverables).

Effort levels

In direct mode, you can set an effort level (low, medium, high) for each feature. The analysis uses effort to adjust the impact score — lower effort items with the same impact rank higher because they deliver more value per unit of effort.

Viewing the ranked analysis

After scoring your features, go to the Analysis tab to see the ranked outcome. The analysis shows each feature’s total score, how it performed against each need, and — in weighted mode — how each stakeholder’s priorities contributed to the rank.

Tips

  • You do not need to score all features at once. You can start with a partial set and refine as you gather more input.
  • In weighted mode, a feature with a high score on a low-weight stakeholder’s top need may still rank below a feature that scores moderately across all stakeholder needs. The weights determine what matters most.
